'Red, White & Green' Wine Tasting
19:00 on Saturday, 1st February 2025
at St Anthony's Parish Hall...

When you hear of "Green Wines", perhaps you immediately think of the popular Portuguese Vinho Verde or an Austrian Gruener Veltliner. But nowadays the term has taken on a much wider meaning for an important trend in wines. More and more producers are adopting methods of wine growing and production that are organic, sustainable and biodynamic. Yes, that Green!

The Knights of St Thomas More are offering a very special evening of tasting and learning about green wines under the guidance of our good friend, Miguel (Mig) Saelens. You will probably remember Mig as the eponymous creator and owner of the wonderful "Mig's World Wines" which has supported our event for over 20 years. Although no longer the owner of the wine shop, Mig is still active in the business and continuing the support.

You can look forward to a fun social evening, tasting and learning about green wines from around the world and maybe even winning prizes in our charity tombola.

After sampling some wines, you are going to be ready for some food, so our Knights will be busy at the barbeque, grilling some delicious steaks for your dinner - to be enjoyed with another glass of wine, perhaps!

The proceeds from the evening are to be used by the Knights to support our chosen charity - the Thari Trust. We have been working with the Thari Trust for several years already supporting their community school-building work in Lesotho. The finds we raise are matched with local community donations and go to projects like building school facilities such as a library or even a kitchen. So all the support you provide is put to work in their community.
